Sunshine Coast!

So we planned a bike trip with our friends the Metge's on the Hiawatha Trail but it was still covered in snow so we changed directions and went north to the Canadian Sunshine Coast. And guess what we HAD sunshine really it was great. So here are a few pictures. How was the trip well I will sum it up in just a few words, 14 thousand elevation total gain for a 6 day trip!!!!!

Looking Forward to Spring and Summer

Well we have almost made it through the winter. And it wasn't so bad, as our family would say. We are now getting ready for the spring and summer months when we are very busy. At least this summer we don't have a whole house to paint. We just made our reservations for Grandkids Summer Camp. The menu is set and most of the activities we plan on doing. But before all that I want to redecorate the inside of my home. New paint, curtains, carpet, update family wall. Maybe paint a mural on a wall or two. Just wanted everyone to know we are alive and doing well.

What can I say it doesn't matter what time of year I'm at the beach I must enter into the surf!!

Fall Is In The Air

We have been really busy in the yard actually Kipp was busy in our yard. Kipp, Haruka and Max came to visit and attend Kipp's grade school buddies wedding. But we got a lot of work out of him while he was here. He did most of the great grape stake fence around our raised bed garden and the posts for the beehive fence.

Well I don't know about anybody else but over here in the northwest we were robbed of our summer. I don't know who took it but we didn't get it. We are all hoping for an Indian Summer, I hope I hope I hope! We did have a full summer season though. As you can see. Now it's time to think of our winter projects. I hope mine is painting inside. This time the walls. It really is time it has been probably 7 years or more. Then get new carpet, which I have been waiting for a long time. Love you all. So at church on Sunday Lydia listened to the speaker talk about his hike on Mt. Adams and said "I want to do that" so she involved the whole family. Kipp flew out from South Carolina, and we headed for the mountain. Bracan's brother-in-law came with us also. The snow level was so low that it was 2 miles just to the trail head, then another 3 -4 miles to lunch counter, our base camp. We were rained on the entire day, thus soaked, just pass the tree line we had lightening not good when you have metal snowshoes, ski poles, and ice picks in your backpack. So we headed down for cover. Blizzard during the night, leaving 4 inches of snow. No reason to head up cuz you won't see anything anyway. All were sad, Aaron and Kipp decided to have some fun anyway and went sledding in the morning on their sleeping pads. It was a miserable/good time. Pictures coming later.

So that last couple of weeks and weekends I have been painting my wood trim upstairs. What a tedious job. One coat base the two coats of paint. it is taking forever....... Plus i have to keep myself busy while Judd spends ALL his time training for his second Ironman. Boy is his HoneyDo list getting long!!!

Yes that's right. One of our young women wanted to go igloo camping so she set up the training meetings and we went last weekend. Up at Stevens Pass. It was beautiful. I had a great time. Aaron was my buddy. He did all the hard work and I was his grunt. But it still was great.

So again this year we decided to go to the beach. We asked various friends but none worked out so it was just Judd and I. With it just being the two of us we were pretty lazy. We did ride our new cruisers on the beach, around town, have a nice Thanksgiving dinner, which I didn't cook or clean for. Watch some Christmas shows. Eat stuff we don't normally eat. We did miss having friends with us. The weather was rainy except on Friday!! The sun came out and it was wonderful. We stopped at Calbella's on the way home. That was ok. Really busy. Not sure what next year will bring, maybe a new place to stay.

So Isaac was over and eating some of grandpa's bottled pears from our pear tree when he dropped some on the table, I could see it in his eyes what he planned on doing to get that pieces into his mouth, but alas I just wasn't fast enough. He slurped that up so fast that this is all I got. You even miss his wonderful face of success. Like father like son, I must say.

So about 2 weeks ago I needed some R&R so Susan (my sister) and i decided to go to the lavender farms in sequim. We had a wonderful time breathing in all that lavender it was a wonderful day of lavender ice cream, lavender lemonade, sunshine, good food and great company. Thanks Susan for going with me. I want to take all my girls next year.

So sometime last summer Judd and I decided we wanted to take our grandchildren camping. We decided that all grandkids 7 years and older could go. Well we just got back! And what fun we had. Biking, swimming, hiking, eating, crafting, and alittle sleeping. We are worn out, but have smiles on still. Here are some of the fun we had. There are only a few things that we would change or improve on. We are willing to share ideas with any of you grandparents and would love suggestions from all. Oh the best part is that no parents are allowed to come.

On Wednesday I hopped on my bike and marked our run on the Birkgilman trail. We did 13.5 miles in 3 hours. Not bad for any of us. Well Judd was a good sport and hung with us the whole way. Thanks Honey.

June 6th Lydia's Birthday and a Half-Marathon

Lydia decided she wanted to run a marathon with Judd, so first comes the half right well for sum reason I decided to follow them.. I have no desire to do a marathon this is were the old lady stops. The kids came to celebrate but were about 5 minutes late to see us finish. So thus the picture on the front lawn.

A visit to South Carolina

We had such a great time in South Carolina visiting Kipp, Haruka and Max. We were there for a week. We had 3 beautiful days of warm weather, had some lightening/thunder rain storms, a wind storm, and a very muggy day. It was so good to spend time with them. We did a lot of siteseeing, ran in a 10k over the Cooper River Bridge, when to Fort Sumter, had a carriage ride through Charleston, fiddle de de, and ate at Bubba Gumps!

This is a wonderful mini conference put on by Deseret Book. It was a Friday evening and then most of Saturday. Myself, Lydia, Shari, Bekah Green, and Julie Metge all went together. It was great. We all put in together for lunch and has the best food ever. The best company, and the most fun. If you haven't been to one you really should try it sometime. Sorry no pictures.

My niece Gretchen got the bug to make her apartment more homie. This is a real transformation. It is so her. Love the colors and set up. She did everything from 2nd had shops. Really didn't pay over 10 dollars for any one item.

A gal at Judd's work has goats because Judd talked her into it. Well she saw the goat barn he made and then Judd said something about a goat feeder. So he built her one. Now he has another lady wanting one. He's making money doing it. I just want him to finish my play house.

This is what I've been waiting for.....a playhouse for my grandchildren. It will be so fun and I just might enjoy sitting in it myself sometimes. Notice the little windows on either side of the front door which will be a half screen door. It will be a large heart cut out. there will be no glass windows but they will be shuttered windows, with little hearts cut into them. Susan is going to crochet an oval rug from my fabric scraps, and I will make little window curtains, and some bench cushions. This is so much fun.

Well I can't figure out how to put a movie on yet!! But here is where the garden shed ended up.
Dad, at my request add a side cover to the goat barn so that their hay would stay dry in the rain as well as their salt lick. Boy were they excited when we added it. They were running up and over the whole house and jumping around just like little kids....ha ha ha. As dad and I were placing it one of the goats jumped on top of it while we were holding it we gave him quite a ride.

So Sunday afternoon Judd came home from meetings and was taking a short nap when there was a knock on the front door. We were surprised! Not expecting anyone. It was our neighbor Sam Hippalo asking if we had goats!!!! Yes why He said that the police were trying to round them up. They had gotten out!!!! Had followed the fence line through the blackberries and were out. So we had to get the goats out the the brier so to speak. You all know how I have wanted a play house for the grandchildren...and how the goats got the first house. Well now my sister gets the next one. Here is the garden house/shed. Notice the roof line, dad really worked hard on getting it right. Saturday Judd was working on it, Bracan was off with his family enjoying the sunshine, Aaron was well I don't know where they were, he was missing Kipp who would have been right in the middle of it and we all know that if Lydia was close she would have control of the power tools. Dad is having such a great time building, I think he needs this, it is his therapy. Next posting will be the finished bedroom. The bedskirt is done and I'm working on the cutains.

This seems to be the hot questions these days. Well they really like their little barn. Spent the whole day in it yesterday. Of course it rained all day. They love the last afternoon when all the kids come for soccor practice...the coach doesn't we hear her yelling at them susie get back here. It's fun. Rabbit and Goat love to watch them play. They also do all they can to get out when we open a gate...they are looking at all the plants yum yum as you can see they got to the sunflower plants missing leaves in the middle and one top gone completely. Sorry Max. So we took the picture from the park side.

So you all know how long it took me to decide to do my heart stencil...months. Well I moved a little faster on my bedroom update. I have finished painting it!!!! Surprised, I know. I still have to make curtains and a bedskirt but have found the fabric for both so hopefully before the end of Sept it will be done. So here is the new color, which looks much better with the bedding now. Nugget is its name.

Wow what a week!!?? By Wednesday I was sure that I would never I mean never do this again!!!!!!!!!! Thursday I wore myself out running around every years unit making sure everything was going well, and this night we had a huge lightening and thunderstorm and so I spent half the night running around checking on the girls to make sure no one was really upset only to find them all sleeping RIGHT THROUGH IT ALL. That was a short night for me. Friday waited all day to float the river, did the river dip four times. And by friday night what can I say sign me up for another year please,, I must be crazy!!! Enjoy the pictures.
